Mycoplasma - Ureasplasma
Mycoplasma pneumoniae is an important and sometimes overlooked pathogen causing infections of the respiratory tract in patient with XLA and CVID.Mycoplasma Hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum can also cause infections of the urogenital tract as well destructive septic arthritis. The isolation of these organisms is often difficult (special culture methods are required) leading to prolonged disease course. Molecular methods to identify organisms by PCR can be useful.
