  22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome

 

 

Chromosome 22q11.2 Deletion syndrome - Patients commonly develop hypocalcemia due to impaired development of the parathyroid gland. Hypocalcemia usually presents in infancy and is exacerbated by cardiac surgery. Most children do not require prolonged calcium supplementation. Hypothyroidism has also been reported in this syndrome.
